The Doctrine of Intentionality.
Pastor Doyin Jibodu | November 8, 2026
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. Psalm 110:1-3
The LORD is raising an army of people who will be intentional. The Spirit of the LORD will move them to rise to the demands of the kingdom and the demands of the season that we are in. Intentional people understand what the kingdom is about and they direct their minds and deploy their will towards one thing – Your kingdom come, O LORD, Your will be done here on earth as it is in heaven.
There is a cardinal principle of intentionality that you will find across scriptures. You will find an example in Matthew 7:7-8. It says: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. It is he who seeks that finds and it is he who knocks that the door is opened to! There is something to be found and will not be found until someone intentionally rises to seek it out. There are hidden treasures that remain hidden until the doors to where they are kept are knocked! This is what the kingdom of God is about. You see it also established in one of the parables of our Lord in Matthew 13:45-46. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Intentionality has an enemy called comfort. Read through Deuteronomy 8:7-19 to find out how this enemy operates. It says: For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you. “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
The church possibly had more power and impact when our halls were not air conditioned and when we did not have all colours of light to blaze on our altars. Now we must turn back to the doctrine of intentionality. It is the will of God that is known that gets done. May our visions be restored today and may we be ushered afresh into that new wave, in this day of His power. Amen.
